Early Life and Education

Christopher Chase Crawford was born on July 18, 1985, in Lubbock, Texas, to dermatologist Chris Crawford and teacher Dana Crawford. He has a younger sister, Candice Crawford, a journalist and model who won the title of Miss Missouri in 2008. Crawford's childhood was spent in Bloomington, Minnesota, where his father attended medical school. He attended Ridgeview Elementary School in that city.

After Chris Crawford completed his medical degree, he relocated the family to Plano, a suburb of Dallas, Texas. During his school years, Chase was diagnosed with Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), characterized by poor concentration and impulsivity. Crawford attended Trinity Christian Academy in Addison, Texas, graduating in 2003. He then enrolled at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, where he studied broadcast journalism and marketing. However, he soon decided to leave university to pursue his true passion: acting.

Acting Debut and Breakthrough Role

Crawford's acting debut came in 2006 with roles in the television film "Long Lost Son" and the fantasy thriller "The Covenant." In both films, he played pivotal roles that showcased his talent and charisma. The following year, he landed his breakthrough role as Nate Archibald in the hit teen drama series "Gossip Girl."

The series, which chronicled the lives of wealthy teenagers in Manhattan, became an instant success. Crawford's portrayal of the charming and privileged Nate Archibald earned him critical acclaim and international recognition. He received his first major award, the Choice Breakout Star Male on Television, at the 2008 Teen Choice Awards for his performance in "Gossip Girl."

Success with "Gossip Girl" and Beyond

Crawford continued to star in "Gossip Girl" for six seasons, earning three more Teen Choice Awards for Best Dramatic Actor on Television in 2009, 2010, and 2012. While filming "Gossip Girl," he also appeared in various other projects, including guest roles in "Family Guy" (2008-2010), "Get Smart" (2008), "Molly Hartley" (2008), "Robot Chicken" (2009), "Twelve" (2010), "Peace, Love & Misunderstanding" (2011), and "What to Expect When You're Expecting" (2012).

After "Gossip Girl" concluded in 2012, Crawford and his fellow cast members embarked on new projects to avoid being typecast as one-dimensional characters. In 2013, Crawford took a hiatus from acting. The following year, he made a guest appearance in the 100th episode of the musical comedy series "Glee" and starred in the comedy film "Mountain Men."

Recent Work and Upcoming Projects

Crawford continued to search for projects that would revitalize his career. In 2015, he played a lead role in the short-lived drama series "Blood & Oil" and appeared in the low-budget film "Cry of Fear." Despite the initial promise of "Blood & Oil," it failed to live up to expectations and was canceled after its first season.

In 2016, Crawford starred in three feature films: the sports dramedy "Undrafted," the romantic drama "Rules Don't Apply," and the horror film "The Haunting of Eloise." None of these films garnered significant commercial success.

Crawford has several upcoming projects in development, including the comedy "The Way, Way Back," scheduled for release on September 1, 2017, and the crime drama "Home Game," where he will star alongside Pierce Brosnan.

Personal Life

In 2010, Crawford was arrested in his hometown of Plano for possession of marijuana. He was required to complete 24 hours of community service and check in with a probation officer once a month for a year. Since then, he has had no further legal issues.

Crawford had a publicized relationship with country music star Carrie Underwood, which ended in 2008. In August 2009, he was seen kissing Ashley Greene, his co-star in "Twilight," after the Teen Choice Awards ceremony. The two never confirmed their relationship, and they have not been seen together since. Crawford's most recent known romance was with model Rachel Goulding.
